In a bid to give back to his community, philanthropist and community leader, Mr. Kaikenechukwu Okolie, popularly known as Policy, has facilitated a free National Identification Number (NIN) registration drive for indigent residents of Ukwu-Nzu Community.
The initiative, which began earlier this week, will run until Friday or Saturday, depending on turnout, to accommodate those who were unable to participate due to transportation or financial constraints. This extended period ensures that more members of the community who faced challenges in accessing the NIN registration process can now take advantage of this opportunity.
Since its introduction in 2021, the NIN has become a mandatory requirement for various essential services, including opening bank accounts, applying for government jobs, and gaining admission into higher institutions.
Mr. Okolie emphasized that the NIN registration drive offers a unique chance for residents, particularly those resident in the community, to obtain the identification they might otherwise struggle to access due to logistical and financial barriers. “As part of our efforts to contribute to the society, we are offering this service free of charge to those who are interested,” he said. “Our aim is to help ensure that community members can easily open bank accounts and access other essential services that require the NIN.”
He also urged members of the community to take full advantage of the initiative, stressing the importance of the NIN. “Without it, one may face difficulties in accessing vital services. This is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.”
The initiative has been met with positive reception from the community, with many expressing gratitude for the opportunity to register without financial burden.
