The second edition of Late Tony Onyeagwu Annual Football Tournament begins 23 of September, 2025. The competition involves all public primary schools in Ika South Local Government Area.
The annual sporting event is organized in honour of Mr. Tony Onyeagwu who died in 2021 at the age of forty-seven.
Williams Eghebi, the Secretary of the Organizing Committee, said the opening match between Eni Primary School and Ihioma Primary School will hold at Igumbor Otiku Secondary School, Agbor , on Tuesday, September 23. The kickoff is 9am.
The final match will hold November 5 to commemorate the fourth memorial of the young philanthropist and community leader.
In the first edition held last year, Ekwuoma Primary, Abavo emerged winners with a cash gift of one million naira (#1,000,000) while Ineh Iteh Primary School in Ekuku-Agbor were runners-up with a cash prize of seven hundred and fifty thousand naira (#750,000). Nosieri Primary School 1, Ime-Obi, took the third position of five hundred thousand naira (#500,000). A consolation prize of two hundred thousand naira (#200,000) was presented to Uweifo Primary School, Ewuru.
The Secretary of the Organizing Committee said any school found guilty of recruiting mercenaries will not only be disqualified but the head teacher will be named and shamed with a view to attracting punishment from the appropriate regulatory agency.
The participating schools have been grouped into four zones. Zone A is made of schools in Ime-Obi and Ihu-Ozomor while Zone B comprises schools in Ihu-Iyaseh and Ekuku-Agbor. The schools in Agbor metropolis and Emuhu are placed in Zone C while the schools in Abavo are in Zone D.
The organizers therefore, disclosed that a comprehensive fixtures will be made public later.
