Excitement, colours, joy and celebration rented the air on Wednesday, July 23, 2024, as Rehoboth Foundation School located at Winner Road, Alihame, Agbor, Delta State, held its much-anticipated annual graduation ceremony with joy and elegance.
The event, which took place at the Alihame Town Hall, opposite the Catholic Church along Sakponba Road, drew a crowd of dignitaries, clergy, proud parents, friends, and well-wishers from all walks of life.
The atmosphere was festive and electrifying as family members and guests came together to celebrate the achievements of the school’s graduating pupils in both academics and character development.
Among the notable figures who graced the ceremony were: Chief Amb. Jude Ogbekile, the Omekeoku of Otolokpo Kingdom, Prophet Dr. Kingsley Edwards, Proprietor of the School, Dr. Mrs. Joy Kingsley, Proprietress of the School, Mrs. Rejoice Immaculate, Mother of the Day, Apt. Ayo Ashiedu, Father of the Day, Mrs. Ayo Ashiedu, Pastor Efe, Pastor Osas Victor, and Pastor Obuh, Parents, guardians, and members of the wider Rehoboth Foundation School community
The ceremony commenced with an opening prayer, followed by the recitation of the national anthem, a welcome song, and an energetic cultural dance performance by the students.
The event also featured several lively and creative segments including: a parents’ dance competition, which had everyone clapping and laughing in excitement
A beauty pageant, where contestants displayed poise and intelligence, Ogene traditional dancers showcasing rich cultural heritage, step dancers thrilling the audience with coordinated moves, unveiling of the graduation cake, symbolizing success and growth, presentation of awards to best-performing students in character and academics, and each performance brought with it thunderous applause, demonstrating the effort, preparation, and spirit the school is known for.
In her heartfelt address, Dr. Mrs. Joy Kingsley, the school’s proprietress, expressed deep gratitude to God for making the day a memorable success. She highlighted the ceremony as more than a graduation—it was a celebration of milestones and a launchpad into future greatness.
“This is not just a ceremony; it is a landmark moment in the lives of these children. We are proud of their growth, achievements, and development in character and learning,” she said.
She went on to commend the teaching and non-teaching staff for their unwavering dedication and commitment to excellence.
“You have impacted positively into the lives of these students. You’ve helped build a solid foundation, and we pray that these children will continue to shine as noble ambassadors of Rehoboth Foundation School,” she added.
She also acknowledged the contributions of parents, thanking them for their support, trust, and partnership in shaping the future of the students.
Apt. Ayo Ashiedu, who served as the Father of the Day, also shared inspiring words, commending the school for maintaining high educational and moral standards.
“I salute the leadership and staff of Rehoboth for their dedication. As parents, we must continue to support our children’s education holistically—not just academically, but morally and spiritually as well,” he emphasized.
He encouraged the students to remain focused, disciplined, and intentional about their future.
In his closing remarks, Prophet Dr. Kingsley Edwards, Proprietor of the school, beamed with joy and satisfaction, thanking everyone for making the day special.
According to him, “Without your support—parents, staff, and the Rehoboth family—this wouldn’t have been possible. We’re grateful for your trust and encouragement.”
He reminded parents of the upcoming academic activities: “Our holiday lesson begins on August 1, and the new academic session resumes on September 8. Please help prepare the students by providing their learning materials early.”
The ceremony reached its peak with the much-anticipated unveiling of Miss and Master Rehoboth Foundation School, an honour given to two outstanding pupils who have excelled both in character and academic performance. This symbolic crowning closed the event with cheers, photo sessions, and celebration.
