Aftermath of 2023 General Election: Monday Boi runs for dear life

A 29-year-old political grassroots mobilizer from Ute-Okpu Kingdom, Ika North East Local Government Area, Comrade Monday Boi, is currently on the run for the safety of his life.

Lamenting his sudden disappearance, the spokesman of the Boi family who claimed anonymity for safety of his life told Ika Weekly that the life of their son, Comrade Monday Boi has been under serious threat, alleging that his former political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) thugs are after him to kill him for not consenting to support the party in the 2023 general election.

The vision for a new Nigeria by the people’s choice presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, according to the Boi family, led Monday Boi, the former youths’ mobilizer of the PDP, dumped the party for the Labour Party.

“Delegates from the PDP, Ika North East LGA, before the election, have been coming to appeal to Monday Boi on behalf of their political leader, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, to forget the past and join hands to win the 2023 general election landslide for the PDP.

Continuing, the Boi family further disclosed that despite several threats on Comrade Monday Boi, he had escaped death from deadly attacks during which election campaign vehicles were burnt down at Ute-Okpu all because of the choice of Mr Peter Obi’s candidacy.

“The fact that it was a landslide victory for LP during the presidential election in all the polling units across Ika nation federal constituency, Monday Boi became a wanted person by his attackers, including APC thugs over his refusal to collect money to work for the party.

“The shocking mass failure of the PDP against the Vice Presidential candidate coming from Ika nation (Owa-Alero) in the person of Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa triggered the situation, and the PDP thugs went out in search of Monday Boi, who they believed his campaign made the youths to vote against the party. For this reason, Monday Boi had to flee for his dear life because of police reluctance to protect him because Delta State is a PDP state”, he further lamented.

The source equally recalled that the continued attack led to houses being burnt down, including the family house of Monday Boi, and the death of four of his siblings, an uncle and many others in cold blood.
