- Pledges full scholarship to student with best WAEC result

In a heartwarming blend of tradition, education, and inspiration, Comrade Prince Emmanuel Okonye—renowned entrepreneur, grassroots politician, and Chief Executive Officer of Prince Paradise Global Concept (PPGC) Limited—took center stage on Thursday, June 5, 2025, as the Chairman of the much-anticipated Cultural Day Celebration at Akumazi Secondary School, located in Akumazi, Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The vibrant event brought together students, teachers, alumni, and community leaders in a colorful display of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. However, the high point of the celebration came when Prince Okonye, an esteemed alumnus of the school, announced a life-changing scholarship for the student with the best WAEC result. He promised to sponsor the student’s university education, covering tuition fees from year one to final year.
This generous pledge was met with thunderous applause and chants of gratitude from the students and staff, igniting hope and motivation among the young minds present.
“This school is a beacon of excellence,” Prince Okonye declared passionately. “It has produced crème-de-la-crème individuals who have gone on to impact society positively.”
Recalling his own journey, he shared:“I was part of the Class of ’93. Back then, we saw ourselves as village students, but when we got to the university, we stood out. That was when we realized the quality of foundation Akumazi Secondary School had given us.”
In his address to the students, Comrade Okonye urged them to dream big and never underestimate their potential: “Don’t look down on yourself. Rise, take on challenges, and aim for global excellence. I am a living proof that success can emerge from anywhere.”
He emphasized the importance of character in achieving success: “Discipline is sacrosanct. Let it be your compass as you pursue excellence in everything you do.”
The business mogul also commended the teachers and school management for their unwavering dedication and the role they play in shaping future leaders. He assured them of his continued support towards the development of the school and the academic success of its students.
A particularly memorable moment during the occasion was the induction of the graduating class of 2025 into the school’s Old Students Association. Comrade Okonye, leading the charge, joined the fresh graduates in cutting their graduation cake, marking their transition into a lifelong community of Akumazi alumni.
The Cultural Day celebration was a breathtaking spectacle of unity in diversity. It began with a grand tribal parade, followed by vibrant cultural performances that showcased the beauty of Nigeria’s ethnic heritage.
In all, the event featured spirited dances and music from major ethnic groups including Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Akwa Ibom, Ndokwa, Aniocha, Ika, and Edo, capturing the essence of Nigeria’s multicultural identity.
In every sense, the day was not just a celebration of culture—it was a celebration of identity, resilience, and the limitless possibilities that education offers.
